UPDATE:  After the initial frustration, my husband was on the phone with EA customer support for a good hour with a sales guy who was “baffled.”  Finally he got passed up the chain and stonewalled on the one-game-copy = one-online-account issue.  This is (pardon my language) fucking retarded.

My full Spore review is in the works, pending my completion of the Space Age.  The whole experience is tainted by this licensing issue, though, which is basically a huge fisting for everyone that shared their enthusiasm for the game early on.
