TIME Magazine Onlie posts a decent article covering the guys beind You Suck at Photoshop, which was hilarious and viral about… oh… a year ago. Their Webby nomination seems to have brought some more mainstream attention. I must admit, I didn’t realize a comedy duo was behind it, and that those guys later created MyDamnChannel.com. Not that I care.

My intrepid BFF, Tracy Russo, standing up for the relatively obvious at the Personal Democracy Forums yesterday in New York. “John McCain is aware of the Internet.” Wow - well, I guess there’s nothing left to do here. Move along.
Also, coverage on Politico.com and TechPresident.com.
TRS Ponders Zombie Escape Plan
Skip to 44:20 (and then go back and watch the whole episode of rad!) to hear the TRS guys’ answers to a recent internet meme, for which I will throw in my two cents below:
You are trapped in a mall and zombies are attacking. You can have ONE weapon, ONE song playing, and ONE famous person (character?) to assist you in the ensuing slaughter. Choose wisely.
Ok…. I’m gonna go with

Yeah, I’d probably get my ass zombified, but man would it be fun.

As previously posted, Tracy Russo recently contributed to a panel at the Personal Democracy Forum here in New York about how politics is being affected by technology and the internet. As the former head of John Edwards’ online campaign, she got into it with McCain’s online adviser. Besides garnering applause from the audience for her statements, she got him to utter the now famous phrase “John McCain is aware of the internet.” The drama was the highlight of the conference and got picked up by the blogosphere, and as of this morning, CNN’s Jeanne Moos. In fact, as I am typing this, the piece just came around on the big flatscreen near my desk.
CNN isn’t down with video embedding, so click the post title to view the video.

In our mad rush to categorize and label everyone, I think we might be getting a little carried away with ourselves at this point. Sure, we can all spot a 70’s stached, skinny black jean wearing, pabst blue ribbon drinking hipster a mile away, but even if they can manage to constantly update their facebook, would a hipster really say “That’s so 2.0?” Not so sure. Then again, perhaps that’s just because I have a tendancy to say, “That’s so 3.0…” See mainstreamers, geek culture was cool until YOU got here.
Although the whole song is fun, be sure not to give up before her fun quippy comments that start about midway through the vid.
Julia Nunes is rocketing out of the YouTube mire into fame. And she actually kind of deserves it. The girl plays instruments, writes songs, beatboxes, and is actually down to earth and self-deprecating. Me likes.
For those in the local region, she’ll be playing at The Knitting Factory on Saturday, July 12th, at 7pm. Tickets available online.
It’s a little known fact that if your ring finger is longer than you index finger, you are like, totally gay. Congress is launching a full investigation.

Check out the torrent tracker. Seems like things are popping up on YouTube and Vimeo as well. (Vimeo FTW, people)
Note: It is my personal opinion that paying $75 per HOPE ticket should have granted us access to $5 DVDs of the talks we saw in person. Let people buy them for $20 a pop via the website after the fact, if they’d like. $20 at the conference per talk??? Ridiculous. I do know that the price hike was caused by moving from a guaranteed contract with the DVD burner company to a cut of the profits contract situation. I’m guessing he cut his nose off to spite his face on that one, as my mother would say, as numerous people lamented the crazy pricing scheme and walked away empty handed.
That said, do support 2600 in any way you can and certainly thrown down for an official copy if you’re buying it for use at a company. (As of this post, it doesn’t look like the videos are for sale on the website yet. YEMV.)
Paris Nails McCain - via Funny or Die
Paris strikes back after McCain uses her to insinuate Obama is a celebretard, and it’s actually both funny and endearing. Yes, Paris: funny and endearing. Is that the sound of the Third Horeseman approaching? Oh, and the Hiltons ain’t Democrats. Vitriolic!

That I just clicked thru a @cnnbrk tweet to cnn.com and see Bernie Mac’s visage on the front page, when Russia just squashed 2000 Georgian civilians is mind blowing. FYI - Quick & Dirty Q&A on the Russia/Georgia/South Ossetia history on BBC News.
Note the part where they mention that Georgia is pulling its 2000 troops out of Iraq to come back home and deal with this. Remember that coalition of the willing? As in - all the countries that sent a few guys into Iraq to whom we are now indebtted? Yeah, I’m sure they won’t want anything back from the United States for that…
